Blissdom ’09

At our annual Sisterchick Christmas party, Amanda suggested that we all go to Blissdom ’09.   None of us had ever heard of it before and we kind of blew it off.  I just recently decided to buy my own domain and really try to expand my blog, so now I really need the conference!  So, today I’m on Amanda’ s site envying the goodies she picked up- like $50 Crocs giftcards!  So, I pop over to the Blissdom page to see what it was all about.  Um, yeah, I should have gone!  Jen Lancaster, my favorite author…ok fine, maybe not my favorite since I’ve only read one of her books, Bitter is the New Black, is the keynote speaker!  I love her book, I want her other books and I love her blog!  Lucky me, my sisterchick Amanda is buying the books for me and hopefully Jen will sign them.  Needless to say, I’ve already talked to Staci and we’re going next year!

Happy Birthday Mandi!

Mandi just turned 30.  Last year, the sisterchicks all went on a cruise for our 30th birthdays.  Since Mandi’s a little younger, we had to do a birthday bash, sisterchick style.  First,  Staci, brought her to the destination blindfolded!

We took her to dinner at Bahama Breeze!  Get it?  Just like our cruise last year to the Bahamas! As you can see, we’re missing Mandy, whose dh had to work at the last minute. :(

After a scrumptious dinner, we headed out for another surprise.  We went to the Atlanta Cupcake Factory, whose website was just a tad bit misleading.  It was basically a hole in the wall with no place to sit!

Disclaimer- here are my two favorite single gals, Staci & Kristen.  If you are a God-lovin, mature man, go ahead and check out their blogs! They’re both beautiful inside and out and would be a prize for any man!

Back to the hole in the wall… they did have lovely cupcakes!

The man working there brought out fresh ones for our little partay.

Here we are with our baked goodies.  You can see Amanda’s little bundle of joy, Asa, in the bottom left.  He was such a good baby!

So, we headed back into my van and asked Magellan to take us to the nearest Starbucks.  Luckily it was only 0.3 miles away.  Don’t these cupcakes look delicious?  Here are the flavors we chose: Pumpkin Latte, White Chocolate Cranberry, Double Chocolate, Sugar Cookie Nutella, Gingerbread Lemon, Chocolate Almond, and Caramel Apple.

This is what the box looked like when we were done.

Here are some other pics I just couldn’t leave out.

Here is Mandi, who kept asking what a certain cupcake was!

Happy birthday, friend!

Knitting party

On friday night, I attempted to teach the sisterchicks how to knit.  It was difficult!  I didn’t realize how hard it is to teach someone to knit, let alone 5 people at one time!  I’m not used to doing it in slo-mo, so I was messing up.  Finally, after teaching them how to cast on, they picked up the knitting in no time.  If you want to see pics, go see Staci’s blog.

A walk down memory lane…

So, most of the sisterchicks and I went to camp every summer.  One summer, in 1994, Staci, Amanda, & I were goofing off with a polaroid camera…and here are the results!  My favorite thing is the subtitles!

Notice the DC Talk poster in the background!

Notice the photos in the background- they are from the other camp that we always went to in the summer!

This one is Dave’s personal favorite!

This is my favorite!  What in the world were we thinking when posing this one??  We are certainly “tangled in fear!”

Sisterchicks Race for a Cure

Today was the Atlanta Susan G. Komen breast cancer walk.  For the second year, the Sisterchick team walked.

Here are the shirts I designed.  It was really great having all the names of the women we walk for on the back of the shirt.

Here are some highlights of the walk:

The Sisterchicks, minus Mandy. From the left; Kristen, Staci, Amanda, Mandi, and myself.

Here’s our survivor- Glenda-walking through the survivor arch!

Here’s the whole gang!

After the walk, we headed over to The Flying Biscuit Cafe. Can you say, yum?

I don’t know what they are looking at, but this is just a hilarious picture!

My friends aren’t fickle

But we do love us some Fickle Pickle, a quaint little restaurant nearby.  When Staci found out that the kids are visiting their grandparents in Florida for the week, she said that she and Amanda were going to try to do lunch today.  Was I interested?  Of course!  By the time I got there, Mandi had torn herself away from work to join us.  The best part, other than hanging with my sisterchicks, was the homemade potato chips with homemade ketchup!  Mmm.  What was the worst part?  As Mandi says here, no one took any pictures!

Night with the chicks

Poor Mandy couldn’t come, but the rest of us made do.  We made our own pizzas- after having to run to Publix because no one brought cheese!  We made one pepperoni, one Gorgonzola & onion, and one spinach, goat cheese, onion & mushroom. Mmmm.

The rest of the night was spent fooling around on Staci’s dating site- wow.  That’s all I can say!  We also are trying to come up with some sort of business, or etsy idea to make money.

Ladies Night Out

Instead of watching the Super Bowl, the Sisterchicks and I went to Ladies Night Out at The Melting Pot.  (there are a lot of caps in that last sentence!)

Not only did we have a blast, but Amanda gave us all a cool present.  Let me start out by saying that one of my chicks, Mandi, is due to have her second baby in Sept. Amanda gives us a Cadbury egg with a note attached that says, “Not to be outdone, Amanda is expecting a chickie in October!”  How exciting!  Two sisterchicks pregnant at the same time!  Now all we need is a dual wedding for Kristen and Staci!

Here’s Amanda with her eggciting news!

How yummy does this look?  We had four plates of this with two chocolate fondue dips for 6 of us!  I felt like I was back on my cruise!
